Journey ii BCS

JOURNEY II Bi-Cruciate Stabilized has been designed to empower patients with a renewed right to an active lifestyle by breaking through traditional knee replacement barriers and delivering unmatched Function, Motion, and Durability through PHYSIOLOGICAL MATCHING Technology for orthopaedic surgeons seeking treatment solutions beyond conventional knee replacements.

JOURNEY II Total Knee System with Bi-Cruciate Stabilization (BCS)

Function:

  • Stability – Assists in maintaining the appropriate femoro-tibial A/P position, almost eliminating paradoxical motion and anterior femur sliding during flexion.
  • Strength – As shown in the original BCS design, restoring the anatomic A/P alignment and the natural kinematic patterns of the knee may result in more typical neuromuscular firing patterns throughout the range of motion.
  • Satisfaction – As shown in the original BCS design, a patient’s capacity to execute the demanding activities they require may be improved by the restoration of more normal neuromuscular firing patterns throughout the range of motion.

Wear of the JOURNEY II Bi-Cruciate Stabilized Knee System was evaluated after five million cycles of use. Burnishing was the most noticeable wear feature on the insert’s articular surface.

  • When compared to conventional designs, medial pivot and rollback force the lateral side to roll more and slide less, virtually eliminating paradoxical sliding as the knee flexes, which results in less wear.
  • Convex lateral insert compartment decreases wear footprint
JOURNEY II BCS Knee System post contact
  • Asymmetric, rounded posterior cam maintains congruent contact during femoral axial rotation, avoiding edge loading and minimizing stress
  • Large, rounded anterior cam minimizes contact stresses and removes edge loading
