ILIZAROV External Fixator

Minimize complications

May help to minimize complications for patients with diabetes and peripheral vascular disease or peripheral neuropathy, who are at greater risk of certain complications.

Tibiocalcaneal fusion

In a study of 11 patients, who experienced the traumatic loss of the talus, nine patients achieved successful tibiocalcaneal (TC) fusion.

Less chance of wound slough

Minimizes the potential for wound slough, that plates and intramedullary devices can cause. The use of minimally invasive wires stabilises the bone and allows the zone of injury to heal.

Cost-effective

Using the ILIZAROV method can potentially lower the cost of treatment, when compared with the prosthetic expenses incurred, throughout a lifetime following amputation.
