In 1992, the BICON-initial PLUS’s iteration was released. The second version, which has a closed shell rim, was introduced in 2002. Today, more than 450 000 copies have been sold globally.
The biconical shape of the implant allows for an approximate match to the spherical shape of the bony acetabulum. With its numerous combination options, the BICON-PLUS system may be used for a variety of surgical reasons, either hard-soft or hard-hard bearing with the wide variety of cross-linked polyethylene, regular polyethylene and ceramic inserts.
