When should negative pressure wound therapy be used?

We always work to create solutions more cost-effective, because the prevalence of acute and chronic wounds is predicted to reach 9% and 12% year, respectively, increasing the demand for NPWT. The following clinical advantages of NPWT should be recognized:

  • Helps to minimize oedema and encourages the production of granulation tissue in partial thickness burns.
  • Enables the wound bed’s moisture balance
  • Exudate from the lesion site and promotes wound healing by removing it
  • Stimulates epithelial cell growth and aids in increasing vascular perfusion.
  • By increasing drainage management, it could result in fewer dressing changes, than with usual care.
